In collaboration with our campus partners, the Office of Training Grant Support offers a virtual National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fellowship Writing Workshop. This is typically offered late spring/early summer semester. This will be a hands-on workshop for predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees planning to submit a NIH Fellowship application (F31 and/or F32) for the December/April deadlines. Registration is limited so applications will be requested
Workshop details:
- Access to online resources to support NIH Fellowship proposal development (checklist, successful proposal examples, instructional videos, etc.).
- Planned panel of successful NIH fellows and NIH study section reviewers to offer tips/advice and answer questions.
- Session for mentors/sponsors offering guidance on Sponsor/co-Sponsor Statement
Participant expectations:
Participants plan to submit a NIH Fellowship application for the upcoming December/April deadlines. Participants will attend every session and come prepared to review and discuss that week’s materials. Mentor participation is a required part of the workshop. Pre- and postdoctoral trainees must have the support of their mentor(s) in order to participate. Participants’ mentors are expected to attend the session on Sponsor & Co-Sponsor Statements.
I missed the workshop! Could I still get the materials?
OTGS hosts the workshop through UW-Madison Canvas. Participants will be able to review materials during the workshop series. However, the Canvas course is also designed for asynchronous learning. If you would like access to the materials, please contact traininggrants@wisc.edu with your wisc.edu email address and we are happy to invite you to the course.
