The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) at UW–Madison is a committed partner in the support of institutional research training grants on campus. The OVCR provides training grant programs funding and resources to successfully administer and elevate the training grant experience.

OVCR Information for faculty and staff involved with NIH Training Grants

The OVCR provides funding dedicated to covering shortfall for NIH training grants. Specifically, they cover pre-doctoral tuition, fees and fringe. They also share information regarding campus policy on trainee appointments. For details, please visit the OVCR webpage here.

Grant Matching Program for Training Grants

To further support training excellence of the next generation of researchers, the OVCR provides training grant programs an annual allocation of flexible funding amounting to 2.5% of the first year direct cost award amount. This allocation must be requested annually and in tandem with the start date of each budget year of a training grant. Information on how to request this flexible funding can be found the on OVCR website (see “Research Training Grants” section for details).
