While the the Office of Training Grant Support (OTGS) primarily provides support services to training grant program directors and administrators, our mission focuses on enhancing training experiences to promote excellence as well as enriching the landscape of research training at UW–Madison. Below we provide a list of training opportunities for graduate and postdoctoral research trainees to support their individual development plans and support career growth.

About the session: This event presents grant seeking strategies for domestic and international postdocs and late-stage doctoral students. Discover various funder types, funding mechanisms, and strategies to enhance your grant writing skills.

About the speakers: James Gentry, MA, is the director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at The Ohio State University. Prior to taking this role, James worked in research development, supporting faculty seeking extramural funding from federal agencies and private foundation, from project conception to grant submission. Kaylee Steen, PhD, is the associate director of professional development and trainee support in the University of Michigan’s Medical School and a biochemist by training. Prior to her current role, she was a University of Michigan research administration fellow, during which time she gained expertise in grant seeking and the administrative side of academic research.

ORCID and SciENcv for NIH Biographical Sketches

When: Online/virtual  04/02/2025 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

In May 2025, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will be requiring Senior/Key Personnel to link their ORCID ID to SciENcv and eRA Commons, and will also be requiring the use SciENcv for NIH Biographical Sketches. This workshop will walk you through how to create an ORCID profile, show you how to link ORCID to SciENcv and eRA Commons, and demonstrate the basics of creating an NIH Biographical Sketch in SciENcv.  Visit the website to register for a Zoom invite.
